On Wednesday, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal praised a railway engineer for ensuring smooth running of local trains amid disordered rail services due to heavy rains in Mumbai. According to a Western Railway official, engineer Harish Rathod on Wednesday spent about 16 hours in floodwater to monitor and remove the water level on the tracks between Andheri and Vasai stations. The official said that during the torrential rains, Rathore continued to cooperate with the city’s civic bodies to clear railway tracks and drain the accumulated water.
Goyal tweeted, “Salute to Railway Engineer Harish Kumar Rathore and his team who spent 16 hours in flood waters to ensure smooth running of local trains amid heavy rains in Mumbai. This is a great example of how passengers Railway employees put everything at stake to ensure safety. “
